BASIL Research Initiative Team Profile
Jeremy Ford
Advisory Board
Since entering the legal sector in 1999, Jeremy built a 25-year career developing elite client relationships, key sector and legal practice strategy, and firm-level communications campaigns across multiple jurisdictions. Having lived, worked in, or visited over 60 countries, he brings a unique understanding of multiple cultures in his approach to business development, complex lateral hire integration and international team leadership.
In January 2025, Jeremy made the decision to step back from his full-time role at Skadden Arps to focus on a portfolio of philanthropic and professional projects. He now channels his expertise into initiatives that align with his values whilst maintaining selective advisory work within the professional services sector working with firms on client strategy, partner coaching, lateral onboarding and integration, and structuring a high performing BD and marketing function.
Jeremy serves as Trustee and Director of the Qhubeka Charity, which uses bicycles to transform the lives of children across southern Africa. His impact in this space was recognised when he was named "ESG Leader of the Year" by the South African Chamber of Commerce. He directs marketing, communications and logistics for Africa Rising Cycling, a non-profit media organisation dedicated to developing professional cycling across the continent. In addition, as a member of the Advisory Board for Fifth Day, Jeremy helps drive the growth of professional pro bono activity within the legal industry. After just 18 months, Fifth Day won 'Pro Bono Initiative of the Year' at the inaugural Legal500 ESG Awards and has secured support from over 25 major law firms.
Jeremy maintains an active presence in sports media as an independent journalist, contributing to the BBC, Cycling News and many other top tier publications. He is accredited by the Professional Publishers Association and the Sports Journalism Association. Additionally, as a UCI-registered DS (Directeur Sportif), he provides tactical and strategic direction to the top-ranked BIKE AID professional racing team.
